This was it, my very first birthday party.
I was nervous and excited and I was probably driving Eddie and Magnus both absolutely mad with all my checking and rechecking of things. I wanted to make sure everything was exactly right, because I had never thrown a party before and although Magnus had helped me quite a bit, I still felt like I needed to make sure I didn't make a mess of it. I knew the rules -- no going upstairs, no alcohol -- and I would make sure everyone else knew it, too, because I didn't want to disappoint Magnus with any terrible behaviour. He was doing me a very big favour, letting me use his place and his pool to have a proper party and I wasn't going to take that for granted.
There was food and drink of all kinds, and plenty of snacks. The pool was lit up with different colours that would get brighter as the sun set and all sorts of inflatable toys could be found so people could just float if they wanted to. At the shallow end of the pool was a little floating basketball net and a bunch of inflatable balls to use with it. There were toys for diving, even a little obstacle course under water with rings people could swim through. The towels were big and fluffy, the chairs were comfortable, and there was even a big birthday cake with my name on it and seventeen candles, although that was for later.
All I had really wanted, I told Magnus, was for it to remind me of his party with all the colours. The one where Eddie and I had first kissed, and he had come through for me. The decorations were fun and bright and everywhere I looked there was a different coloured light.
I had invited all my friends, regardless of their age, so that meant there were little kids on the guest list and adults, too. A part of me worried some of the other kids around my age might think that was weird, but in the end I decided I didn't care that much. I wanted my friends to be here with me, all my friends, and not all my friends were the same age. I liked that about them all very much.
As the first people started to arrive, I clutched Eddie's hand nervously, beaming at him, then kissed him quickly on the cheek before going to greet people. I was supposed to be the host, after all. It was my first party.

"That felt good," I finally murmured as I lifted my clean hand and carded my fingers gently through Eddie's hair. I looked at him for a moment, that same lazy smile still curving my lips, then I leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek, then against the tip of his nose.
Eventually we would have to get up again. We could have to clean ourselves up as best as we could and return to the party. I had little doubt someone would see us return and know what we had been up to. I didn't care. I didn't even want to move. My legs felt shaky even without attempting to stand.

They'd done plenty of stuff before, and he'd definitely ended up with his shorts sticky, with Jamie around, but each time felt like a little bit more.

It was just a kiss, but even still, I shivered deeply as I leaned back against the cabinet again. I had never kissed him there before, I had never kissed him anywhere but his mouth and his face and sometimes his neck. Tilting my head back, I peeked up at Eddie, looking for his reaction.
Maybe it was just a kiss, but I still wanted to make sure it was okay.

Dropping back down into Jamie's lap, Eddie brought his hands to Jamie's face, his palms still slick with water from the sink, and held him still as he pressed their lips together in a fierce kiss.
He was hot all over and realized they could probably start all over again.
"We really need to go," he mumbled breathlessly. It wasn't because he wanted to, but because he wasn't sure if he wanted any more firsts to happen on the floor of Magnus's bathroom.

I knew not all of this was easy for him. It was new for both of us, confusing for both of us, but I knew Eddie had difficulties with things I might never completely understand. All I wanted was to be good to him, though, to never rush him or put pressure on him, to only do things that he was okay to try. Kissing his stomach was barely anything at all, but he had liked it and that made me happy.
And if anything else were to happen, it would be better somewhere else. Somewhere more private. Somewhere not next to a toilet, no matter how fancy it might be.
"Come on, then," I said before I kissed him again. "Let's run out there and jump straight into the pool. No one will notice a thing if we make a big enough splash."
