"It's nothing," I promised and I meant it. At Peter's hands, I had suffered far worse than a few bruises, and I wasn't concerned about my own safety now. The others were the ones who were really in danger, because they were more important to me than Peter had ever been, and I knew what he would do to anyone I prized above him. He seemed angry with me for having started to grow up, but at the same time, I knew he was lonely and afraid.
